This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Abocado (the "App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Most user data is stored locally on your device, including:

  • Goals and completion history
  • User-defined app access rules
  • Progress and statistics
  • Timer state and preferences

This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable optional cloud-based features, if available.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party Services

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes payment information and subscription-related data in accordance with their privacy practices.

Apple Services

Abocado uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to enable user-defined app access restrictions. Authorization is required and managed by the user through iOS system settings.

We do not access, collect, or store detailed Screen Time usage data from other apps. Screen Time permissions are used solely to enforce user-defined app access restrictions configured within Abocado.

Permissions and Access

Screen Time / Family Controls

Abocado requests Screen Time permission to allow users to manage access to selected apps based on user-defined rules configured in the App. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time through iOS Settings. Revoking access will disable app restriction features but will not affect other core functionality.

Notifications

The App may request permission to send local notifications for:

  • Goal reminders
  • Timer completion alerts
  • Daily motivation messages

Notification preferences can be managed through iOS Settings.

Background App Refresh

Abocado may use background processing to maintain timer-related functionality and update App state. Disabling background app refresh may impact timer behavior when the App is not in the foreground.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party providers (such as RevenueCat and PostHog) solely to operate and improve the App
  • Legal Requirements: When required to comply with applicable laws or lawful requests
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access Your Data: View information stored locally through the App interface
  • Delete Your Data: Remove all App data by uninstalling the App or using in-App data clearing options, if available
  • Opt Out of Analytics: Request to opt out of analytics collection where applicable
  • Manage Permissions: Control App permissions through iOS Settings

Data Retention

  • Local Data: Retained on your device until deleted by you
  • Analytics Data: Retained by PostHog according to their retention policies
  • Subscription Data: Retained by RevenueCat as required for subscription management and compliance
